Congratulations to Scott Tarter and Twin Lakes Farm on their purchase of Carrie!!

Carrie: 9-year old Bay Mare

Carrie is a 16.3H 9-year old Warmblood mare.  She is super sweet, kind and willing.  One of her full brothers was HOTY Zone II Reserve Champion in the 3'6" Green Hunters.

Overview:  Carrie is a 16.3+H 9-year old Canadian Sporthorse mare by Cabardino out of Rio Grande mare (Click here for pedigree). She has mileage in the the 2'6" and 2'9" Hunters and she has the step and scope to go higher. You can view video footage of Carrie by clicking on the following link: Carrie Videos.  USEF #5404244

Show Mileage and Potential:  Carrie is an attractive horse who has competed at a variety of venues including HITS Saugerties and Old Salem Farm. We believe Carrie could be a suitable mount for an amateur/junior rider looking for a competitive 2'6" mount.

Under Saddle: Carrie is an honest horse with a competitive jump and a big stride to get down the lines. She is a kind, dependable, consistent, athletic and willing partner.  She is exceptionally brave and she is forgiving of mistakes. Her advanced flatwork includes the counter canter and automatic lead changes.  Her gaits are easy to sit, and she is easy to stay with over fences. Carrie is a little bit of a "go" ride, yet she is easy to frame, handy, adjustable and responsive.

Trainability:  Carrie is smart, retains her training well, learns quickly and has a good work ethic.

Preferred Rider: Carrie has her own motor and partners best with a rider that has a light hand and a light seat that encourages her natural bascule.

On the Ground: Carrie has good ground manners.  She enjoys being groomed and she enjoys mints.  She clips, loads, bathes and ships.  She is good with the farrier and the vet.

Temperament:  Carrie has a super sweet in-your-pocket temperment and is easy to get along with.  Carrie's favorite treat is peppermint Lifesavers.

Program:  Carrie is currently being ridden 4-6 times a week, with at least one pro training ride a week.  She would thrive in a program where she is ridden 4-6 times a week and is jumped only once, or perhaps twice a week as she doesn't need a lot of practice. At the shows, she does best with a light flat ride at the beginning of her day.  She is very brave and doesn't need to see the ring or the jumps. Carrie is an easy keeper.  Like all our horses, she receives turnout as weather permits.
