Capri: 9-Year Old Chestnut Gelding

Overview:  Capri is a 16.3H 9 year old Warmblood gelding by Cabardino out of a Futurist mare (Click here for pedigree).  This fellow is very fancy, super easy and we believe he has the potential to be a great derby, A/O or Junior mount. You can view video footage by clicking on the following link: Capri Videos. Show Mileage and Potential:  Capri's show record includes 3'6" Green HOTY Champion in Zone II as well as qualified and ribboned at Devon also in the 3'6" Greens.  He also competed and ribboned at Old Salem May, The Hampton Classic, HITS Saugerties, Garden State, the Green Incentive Finals held at Kentucky Horse Park, the Devoucoux Derby and the Stal Hendrix Futurity; both held at HITS Saugerties; as well as Capital Challenge. We believe Capri would be a great mount for an amateur/junior rider looking for a competitive 3'6" partner with the step and scope to go higher.  At 16.3H, Capri has a huge stride with plenty of step to get down the lines and he is fancy enough to appeal to a professional and be a contendor for top ribbons. 

Under Saddle: Capri has a naturally balanced and rhythmical canter which makes it easy to maintain a nice consistent pace and find the jumps.  Capri is a tall fancy fellow that has a great presense in the show ring.  He is extremely scopey, very competitive and he wants to be good and and win for his rider.  Capri is a very kind, honest and willing partner.  His advanced flatwork includes the counter canter and automatic lead changes.  His gaits are easy to sit, his stride is steady and he is well broke. Capri is little bit of a leg ride yet he is easy to frame, handy, adjustable and responsive. 

Trainability:  Capri aims to please.  He is smart, retains his training well and has a good work ethic.  He learns quickly and is the same horse each day.

Preferred Rider:  Capri performs well for a wide variety of riders.  He is a "point and shoot" ride that doesn't need to see the jumps.

On the Ground:  Capri has exceptional ground manners.  He enjoys being groomed and bathed and he adores attention and mints.  This gentle, charming, young man is very agreeable and tolerant.  He has no vices and is a pleasure to have in the barn.  Capri has a great brain and is very easy on the ground.  He clips, loads, bathes and ships.  Capri is very well mannered with a content personality. 

Temperament:  Capri is a quiet, sweet, affectionate young man.  He is easy-going, laid back, with a puppy dog personality and he truly is a barn favorite.  Everything about this young man is easy.  He is easy in the barn, on the ground, under tack, at the shows, etc. and he is truly a joy to have in the barn.

Program:  Capri is currently being ridden 5-6 times a week by a pro, with at least one training ride a week.  He has also thrived in a program where he was being ridden by an adult several days a week with one pro training ride a week.  Capri is an easy keeper.  Like all our horses, he receives turnout as weather permits and he generally appreciates more turnout rather than less.
