Cameron: 9-year old Chestnut Gelding
Overview: Cameron is a 15.3-1/2H 9-year old Warmblood gelding by the top hunter sire Cabardino out of a Rio Grande grandaughter (Click here for pedigree). This fellow has very consistent form over fences and jumps a "10" every time over 2'6" or 3'. He is a full brother to a HOTY Zone II 3'6" Green Hunter Champion. Show Mileage and Potential: Cameron has competed at a number of top venues in the Northeast to include Capital Challenge, Harrisburg Pennsylvania National, HITS Saugerties, Old Salem Farm, Monmouth at the Team, etc. His individual accomplishments include a circuit tri-color at HITS Saugerties, scores of 80's at Harrisburg National and Capital Challenge including a ribbon over fences, participation in the $15,000 Stal Hendrix Finals, 3' green hunter champion at Old Salem Farm, numerous ribbons at HITS, Monmouth at the Team, NY Horse and Pony,Vermont Summer Celebration and more. Although he measures just under 16H, Cameron has plenty of step to get down the lines and he is fancy enough to earn top ribbons.
Under Saddle: Cameron has a naturally balanced and rhythmical canter which makes it easy to maintain a nice consistent pace and find the jumps. Cameron is a brave, fancy young fellow that has a great presense in the show ring. He is soft in the bridle, easy to sit, well broke, has great lead changes and can execute the counter canter. Cameron is a "point and shoot" ride that is easy to stay with over fences. He is handy, adjustable, responsive and easy to rate. Cameron is an easy ride that is extremely kind, competitive, forgiving, consistent, willing dependable, and honest, and yet he is quiet enough for beginners. He has numerous wins over fences and many top three placings under saddle.
Trainability: Cameron aims to please. He is smart, retains his training well and has a good work ethic. He learns quickly and is the same horse each day. Cameron is brave and honest to the fences. He is a very easy straight-forward ride in the show ring.
Preferred Rider: Cameron performs well for a rider that keeps a gentle supportive leg and encourages his natural bascule.
On the Ground: Cameron has exceptional ground manners. He enjoys being groomed and bathed and he adores attention and peppermints. This gentle, charming, young man is very agreeable and tolerant. He has no vices and is a pleasure to have in the barn. Cameron has a great brain and is very easy on the ground. He clips, loads, bathes, stand politely on the cross ties, ships and goes on the treadmill. Cameron is very well mannered with a content personality.
Temperament: Cameron is a quiet, sweet, affectionate young man. He is easy-going, laid back, with a puppy dog personality and he truly is a barn favorite.
Program: Cameron is currently being ridden about 5 times a week. He will usually has 1-2 training rides a week with a newly minted pro. But he has also thrived in a program where he was ridden by an adult several days a week with one pro training ride a week. Cameron knows his job and is ready to embark on a successful career with an adult or child rider. Cameron is an extremely easy keeper. Like all our horses, he receives turnout as weather permits.
